Timber Chink™ is our market leading latex chink which is formulated to provide the best possible chemistry, resulting in ease of application, tooling and long term performance for all types of log structures.

Product Description

Timber Chink™ is a flexible, textured chinking that seals the gaps between logs to eliminate heat loss, air and pest infiltration. Timber Chink is designed to work on all types of log structures. Timber Chink is a premium acrylic latex elastomeric sealant that provides the highest degree of durability, flexibility and resistance to cracking caused by log movement and weather. Timber Chink maintains its pliable nature after full cure.

General Production Information

Colors: Marble White, Gray Stone, Sandstone Flagstone, Brownstone, Mortar White, Buff, Tan, Woodtone Cedar.

Packaging: 5-gallon pails and 29 fluid oz. fiber cartridges (10 per carton)

Shelf Life: 12 months from purchase when stored in a tightly sealed container between 45°F and 90°F.

VOC: 32 grams/liter

Cure Time: 3 weeks (1/2” thickness, 77°F, 50% relative humidity). Timber Chink is tack-free in 1-2 hours.

Freeze-Thaw: Passes 5 cycles

Slump: <1/16” (ASTM D2202)

Viscosity: 450,000 cps (Brookfield #5)

Service Range: -30°F to 220°F

Application Range: 40°F to 95°F

Weathering: No washout, no cracking and no discoloration. UV resistance QUV (1000 hours) testing shows no effect.

Compatibility: Compatible with most sealers, preservatives and stains. Some coatings contain wax or petroleum based oils that can make adhesion more difficult.

Timber Chink is formulated to surpass the performance requirements of the accepted industry standards for adhesion, elongation and tensile strength.

  • ASTM C834 – Latex Sealants
  • ASTM D638 – Tensile Properties (elongation: 240%, tensile strength: 40 lbs/in2)
  • ASTM C920(12.5) – Elastomeric Joint Sealant
